Kaustubh Banninthaya from class 11 of AMNS International School Surat was selected to participate in Prerana, a unique and immersive experiential learning Program organized by the Ministry of Education. This project envisions to inspire the youth of the country to make Bharat a Viksit nation by 2047.

Participants had to undergo a regional selection round and 2 students from the district were selected to represent the state in the program.  20 students from different States/UTs attended the program at the Prerana Centre in Vadnagar, Gujarat, at the historic Vernacular school where the remarkable journey of our honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi began.

At the heart of the curriculum is the philosophy of value-based education which is a cornerstone of the NEP 2020. Its essence lies not only in the present but also in the ancient knowledge system which will reinforce the value system and inspire learners far beyond the walls. The project focused on students to experience and internalize these values through the latest technology and hands-on activities, through a one-week program. The classrooms were based on nine themes that provided unique avenues for joyful and meaningful learning through activity-based learning. The themes around which Prerana is founded are the values which are the hallmark of great and true leaders. They are:
• Swabhiman and Vinay
• Shaurya and Sahas
• Parishram and Samarpan
• Karuna and Sewa
• Vividhta and Ekta
• Satyanishtha and Shuchita
• Navachar and Jigyasa
• Shraddha and Vishwas
• Swatantrata and Kartavya

As a part of the project, the students were taken on field visits for collaborative learning and community interactions. They spent time with the elderly at the old age home and visited historical and archeological sites.

Kaustubh reported, ‘The classes were extremely interesting and included quizzes, games, role plays and other activites . The day also included Yoga and meditation in the morning, Indic games and activities in the evening. We also had a chance to talk to the dignitaries from the ministry of education and the PMO who shared their experiences and guided us. After attending the program I feel a sense of belonging and pride and reflect on how I can contribute to nation building and will carry the ethos of Prerana into my community and inspire others.’
