AMNS International School celebrated its Annual Sports Day with an inspiring blend of athletic excellence and environmental advocacy. The event, held on 21st December 2024 for students of Classes V to XII, highlighted the urgent need to protect the planet under the theme of "Environmental Sustainability."
The day commenced with a grand March Past. Led by the school council members comprising Het Mehta (School Captain), Sakshi Wakhare (School Captain), Soumitra Dey (Literary Secretary), Radhey Lad (Cultural Secretary), and Aritro Dey (Sports Secretary), the March Past featured contingents of NCC cadets, state players, and the four school houses—Emerald, Ruby, Topaz, and Sapphire. Each house carried placards with impactful messages such as "Rhythms to Save Rivers," "Restoring the Land, Reviving Life," "Protectors: Guardians of the Earth," and "Clean Air: Energise and Revitalize." The students' commitment to environmental conservation set the tone for the day, with the sports captain, Aritro Dey, leading the oath to demonstrate sportsmanship and care for the environment.
Our Principal, Ms. Sunita Matoo, highlighted the fragile balance between humanity and nature, urging everyone to mend the damage caused by human actions. She drew a parallel with nurturing children, emphasizing the importance of providing them with a balanced diet, strong values, and a safe environment to grow. She called for a collective effort to ensure a harmonious and sustainable future for both nature and children.
This was followed by the reading of the Annual Report by the council members of Grade 12. At the end of the report, Ms. Seema Kaushik was felicitated for completing fifteen years of service to the institution. Then, the top scorers of Grades 10 and 12 board exams were recognized by the chief guest. This was followed by an award ceremony for the national-level achievers of the year, including a group performing Nukkad Natak that won first place nationally, a second position in a national essay writing competition, sixth place in the INCA National Map Quiz, and first place in a dance competition. Fifteen students were also awarded for achieving recognition at the national level in athletics.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Anupam Singh Gahlaut, Commissioner of Police, Surat, delivered a thought-provoking address, urging parents to encourage their children's individuality while stressing the importance of cyber security and road safety. He also congratulated the school on its achievements and officially declared the Sports Meet open.

Stick exercises and Bamboo routines emphasized environmental protection, strength, and resilience. Aerobic performances, executed with agility and precision, underscored the significance of clean air.
The competitive spirit shone through during the track and field events, with the four houses vying for victory. Fun activities added a lively touch, engaging both students and the audience.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a powerful reminder to care for the planet, underscored by slogans like "Rivers are life, let them thrive—End pollution, keep them alive" and "Plant a tree—set life free, Green the Earth—for you and me."
